Back in the dim and distant days of 1972 -doesn't time fly when you're having fun? - five regulars of the Bradshaw Tavern Folk Club near Halifax put together a mumming team for New Year's Eve and chose a traditional St George play as their starter for 10. Forty years on the by now older if not necessarily wiser survivors thought it might be a good idea to dust off the scripts and have another bash at the play that started it all complete with 40-year-old ad-libs. At least that's our excuse and we're sticking to it. The 2012 swords are metal rather than the original wood but other than that only fading hairlines and expanding waists have been changed to protect the innocent.
